ESF Co-organizing Conference on Drone Technology
ESF, the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), University at Buffalo, Cornell University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges are co- organizing the Systems and Technologies for the Remote Sensing Applications Through Unmanned Aerial Systems (STRATUS) conference.
The conference will be held Feb. 25-27 on the RIT campus. Dr. Lindi Quackenbush, ERE department chair, and Assistant Professor Bahram Salehi are involved in the conference planning. Salehi is serving as technical chair. ESF faculty, along with graduate and undergraduate students, will be attending and presenting.
The STRATUS conference will explore how drones are revolutionizing fields including precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and forest and water management, and showcase the latest developments in the hardware and algorithms that power unmanned aerial systems.
Keynote speakers include Sally Rockey, the first executive director of the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR), and Steven J. Thomson, a national program leader at the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The three-day event will also feature tutorials, presentations, posters, sponsors, networking opportunities and vendor demonstrations.
