ESF Chemists Swarm Pacifichem
Four faculty and four graduate students from ESF's Chemistry Department presented talks or posters at Pacifichem in Hawaii this past December. Dr. Chris Nomura organized a symposium on Biodegradeable and Biomass Plastics. Professors David Kieber, Arthur Stipanovic, and Dr. William Winter gave presentations. Chemistry graduate students Qin Wang, Ryan Tappel, and Alex Mueller presented posters, as did recent Ph.D. recipient Rebecca Jarrell. Recent Ph.D. recipient Kun Cheng also attended.
The conference called Pacifichem (http://www.pacifichem.org) is held every five years in Hawaii, and promotes scientific exchange in the Pacific Basin. As such, it is a prestigious international conference. It is a very important opportunity to present research, and for informal networking that is very valuable.
