About
JR Fenn is a multi-genre writer whose work has appeared or is forthcoming in Boston Review, The Georgia Review, Witness, Split Lip, and more. Her fiction chapbook, Tiny Vessels, won The 2024 Masters Review Chapbook Open and is now available from B&N, Bookshop, etc. Recognitions include the New Millennium Award for Flash Fiction, the Robert Colley Prize for Fiction, the Gulf Coast Prize for Nonfiction, Pushcart and Best Small Fictions nominations, and appearances in the Bath, Bristol, and Oxford Award Anthologies. Her writing has been supported by Ucross, Orion Environmental Writers' Workshop, Writing by Writers, and the Key West Literary Seminar, among other places.
At ESF, Fenn teaches environmental writing, research and writing in the humanities, podcasting, and fiction. In addition to her MFA in Fiction from Syracuse University, she holds a PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and a Master's in Teaching from Hollins University. Before coming to ESF, she taught at SUNY Geneseo and Birkbeck College, University of London. Her teaching and research interests include digital storytelling, critical pedagogy, public presentation, and short forms.
