Alumni Spotlight: Karina Lang, '22
Karina Lang
Karina Lang, '22 is living her passion less than two months after graduating from ESF. She majored in Conservation Biology with a minor in Marine Science and is now interning at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Tiburon, California. This summer, she will be working on the Fouling Project in the Marine Invasions Lab, developing an independent research project, assisting with various lab projects, and performing field surveys in the Bay area and beyond.
For Karina, this work is her way to make an impact. She chose to come to ESF from Long Island based on the College's reputation for research and community service. Karina was able to find professors and classes here that truly prepared her for a life in research.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I received while at ESF, especially my experience working with everyone in Dr. Josh Drew's lab."
Beyond her six-month internship, Karina plans to work in several research technician jobs in the future to determine her focus in graduate school. She hopes to become a researcher in her chosen field, contributing to conservation efforts worldwide.
We are wishing you all the best in your next step, Karina!
